Quartz w/ Amphibolite inclusions - sold
Auernig, Mallnitz, Carinthia, Austria
Size: 145 x 75 x 60 mm
Three twinned titanite crystals up to 12 mm length on matrix. The titanites exhibit the typical colour of the Kristallwand find, i.e. cognac-like with some green and red accents. In addition to the three main crystals, there are several tiny titanites and mica crystals scattered over the display side of the specimen. No significant damage.
Aragonite & Duftite - sold
Size: 12.5 × 9.5 × 2.5 cm
Star-shaped cluster of unusually filigree aragonite crystals on duftite covered matrix - looks very much like the iconic flower Edelweiss on alpine pasture.
Advanced pseudomorph stage of malachite replacing azurite. The cross-section shows a thickness of roughly 1-2 mm for the malachite layer (see video). Additional botryoidal malachite aggregates are scattered over the display side of the specimen. The simple term "matrix" does not at all embrace the character of the interesting piece of base rock of this specimen, holding several blue and green copper ore veins as well as cavities filled with quartz, calcite and azurite crystals.
